Course is focused on the basic principles of geotechnical monitoring, basic principles of monitoring systems and a basic overview of methods and instrumentation, which can be used for monitoring stresses in the rock environment, in reinforcement, load of the reinforcement, deformations, settlements, water pressures, water flow, seismic activity, radon (dynamometers, inclinometers, convergometers, extenzometers, piezometers, settlements sensors, water flow indicators, etc.).
Within the course, the students are also acquainted with the design of monitoring for various types of underground structures, slopes and embankments and with the possibilities of processing the resulting monitored data, including the possible back analysis.

1)Geotechnical monitoring, its main functions and components.
2)Basic principles of monitoring systems.
3)Measurement of the primary stress inside the rock mass
4)Convergometric measurements, measurements of cracks and
fissures.
5)Extensometric and inclinometric measurements, brittle wires.
6)Ground water monitoring - water pressures and direction of
groundwater flow.
